| The RSS-2015 CT is an
innovative system that evolved from the RSS-2000,
that provides vehicle anti-ram protection for
airport/airfield taxiway gaps or other environments
where operational constraints preclude the use of
permanent fences/barriers. The RSS-2015 CT flush
mounts with the surface and can be expanded to cover
an area from 200 to 400+ feet. The system allows an
open taxiway or protected area to transition to a
closed taxiway or area in 15 seconds or less. |
As with the RSS-2000, installation of the Cable
Trap System requires a shallow 24 excavation to set
the self-contained RSS-2015CT barrier and its
components into. Installation of a typical Cable
Trap System across a *300 foot taxiway can be
completed and turned over to the customer in 4
weeks. Here is a list of steps in the installation
of a typical Cable Trap System:
1. Demo of the existing surface to obtain the
24 excavation pit
2. Preparing the pit for the RSS-2015CT units
and deadman foundations
3. Installing cable trays, conduit and drain
connections
4. Place concrete around units and cable trays
flush with existing concrete
5. Installing electrical and control wiring
6. Installing barrier cable and deadman
stanchion hardware to RSS-2015CT units
7. Connecting the RSS-2015CT units to the local
control panel
8. Testing the system and adjusting the
electromechanical actuator as required
* NOTE - Condition
and thickness of existing taxiway, existing
utilities within the 24 excavation depth, and
adverse weather could all impact this typical
timeline.
