A common question facing
many security planners is "How do you provide vehicle
anti-ram protection to areas over 100 feet wide?" You
can put anti-ram cables on fences, vehicle barriers near
entry control points but areas such as the
runway/taxiway side of a parking area was always
vulnerable at the taxiway gaps. Airfield restrictions
and operational necessity also prohibited the use of
standard security barriers to mitigate this threat.
Traditional vehicle barriers deployed in a line are not
cost effective and create synchronization/timing
challenges that require frequent maintenance.
The RSS-2015 CT is an innovative system that evolved
from the RSS-2000, that provides vehicle anti-ram
protection for airport/airfield taxiway gaps or other
environments where operational constraints preclude the
use of permanent fences/barriers. The RSS-2015 CT flush
mounts with the surface and can be expanded to cover an
area from 200 to 400+ feet. The system allows an open
taxiway or protected area to transition to a closed
taxiway or area in 15 seconds or less.
All barriers can be operated by 110v, 220v, 12v, or 24v
(or even solar power on smaller taxiway gaps). In the
event of a catastrophic power failure, it can be
operated manually, with a portable back-up generator
from the control box. The RSS-2015 CT's operating speed
is 15 seconds or less regardless of temperature (-30f to
+200f).
The RSS-2015 CT has an anti-skid drive surface that
flush mounts with the taxiway leaving no problem for
street sweepers or snowplows. The barriers simple
controls can be operated by a keypad, proximity reader,
hardwire remote control or computer controlled at an
entry control point or a command center giving you
man-in-the-loop control at all times.
All barriers are fully operational and self-contained
shipped from the factory ready to install. The simple
design of the RSS-2015 CT requires almost no maintenance
even when there are high traffic volumes. The key
component of the barrier is an electromechanical
actuator that eliminates the high maintenance costs
associated with the hydraulic or pneumatic barriers on
the market.
The RSS-2015 CT when compared to the hydraulic or
pneumatic barriers on the market becomes an obvious
"Best Value" choice.
